Napa Valley Facelift – How to Create A Natural and Long Lasting Facelift
Napa Valley,Califorrnia– Facelift surgery techniques have changed to a more natural and longer lasting facial rejuvenation. The most significant advance in facelift surgical techniques was discovered in the anatomy lab. Two physicians found a layer of strong facial tissue below the facial skin level and determined that it was a separate very strong layer that supported the skin.. They called it the is the Superficial Muscular Aponeurotic System . The acronym is SMAS. This is the bases of the modern day facelift. The picture below shows a firm tissue layer which is being pulled, this is the SMAS layer.
The SMAS facelift layer was discovered to be the frame work or foundation of the facial skin. When the SMAS is anchored, the skin is pulled as well in a natural way. This creates a natural and elegant looking facelift. The SMAS layer is much stronger than skin which stretches easily. This also avoids putting anchoring pull tension on the skin and , therefore, heals much better and creates a better scar. The below photo are two patients of Miguel Delgado,MD who have had SMAS facelifts.
